One thing that is unique for us about being in Italy is that we are part of a military community for the first time. We experienced first hand the hardships of war as many of our friends deployed for an entire year. Our small post averaged one memorial service a month. Thankfully, we also experienced the joy as they returned. In particular, we were honored to be a part of the group that welcomed our close friend Jon back from a year in Afgahnistan. It was wonderful to witness the reunion of he and his wife Rebecca.
